Learning outcomes: By the end of the lesson students can:

v All students can define the meaning of adjectives

v  Most students can identify adjectives from the text

v  Some students can be create their sentences using adjectives

Teaching aids:

v  Flashcards

v  Charts

v  Pointer

v  Cardboard

v  An empty bag of rice

v  Cello tape

v  Glitters

Warmer: Hidden words

v  Distribute students into 2 groups

v  Distribute one words in each group

v  Study their given word and try to find out words that appear in their given words

v  Allow them to sort out their words in 3 minutes

v  Choose a presenter to write their answers on the board

v  The group who exceeds the number of words is a winner

Presentation:

v  Recap on what they had learned yesterday

v  Introduce the learning outcomes

v  Introduce the topic

v  Elicit their prior knowledge about the topic (brainstorming)

v  Explain the topic (brief note)

Introduce:

v  Sweet- karewe

v  Little- uarereke

v  Beautiful-tikiraoi

v  Red- uraura

v  Sunny-riringa

Read the text with students

Practice:

v  Distribute students into 2 groups(accordingly to their year level)

Group task:

v  Identify adjectives from the text (as many as they can)

v  Present their work to the whole class

v  Praise them for their great effort

Production:

Write your sentences using these adjectives

1.       Beautiful

2.       Scary

3.       Colorful

4.       Funny

5.       Playful

Conclusion:

v  Play the hot potato with students

v  Revisit the learning outcome by asking and passing the hot potato to them and passed back to give the answer of the question

1.       What have you learnt today?

2.       Give one adjective from the story

3.       Give me a sentence using the word ‘scary’

v  Parise them for their effort and end the lesson with 3 big claps

Evaluation: 

STRENGTH: 

  • All students engaged well throughout the lesson

  • all students participated well during the lesson

  • all students completed their work 

  • the lesson finished right on time

  • most students achieved the learning outomes



WEAKNESS:

  • a few students could not make their own sentences from the given words (3 stds)

  • some students could not understand the english language 

INTERVENTION:

  • apply simple sentences and introduce them to students

  • make sure to use simple words in explanation due to the year level of comprehensions
